LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers brought in someone you may know this offseason. Does the name Shaquille O'Neal ring any bells? The new Cavs center will not only provide LeBron with a strong scoring option down low, but for a team be that much better. While Mo Williams proved to be a viable second choice last year, everyone will now have a little less pressure on them with O'Neal around. The Cavaliers now seem to possess the entire championship package; a superstar, a low post threat, a shooter, and depth.

The 2008-2009 Cleveland Cavaliers finished the regular season with a 66-16 record, thus making them not just the top seed in the Eastern Conference but throughout the entire NBA Playoffs, and resulting in LeBron James being named the NBA's Most Valuable Player. Unfortunately, at the end of the day, all of these impressive numbers and honors did not matter much because the Cavs still were unable to bring a championship to a city which is in dire search of one.

Given Cleveland's label as one of the most snake-bitten sports cities in America, after the Cavaliers were knocked off by the Orlando Magic in the Eastern Conference Championship, it was still difficult to put a positive spin on a season that most would agree should have been better. Had they at least made it to the Finals and lost to Kobe Bryant's Lakers, the agony of defeat wouldn't have torn through a locker room and city with quite as much shock. However, once Orlando had finally defeated Cleveland in six games, there was an unmistakable feeling that the regular season's top team had fallen far short of its potential, and leaving the team and coach to head back to the drawing board.

For a team with best record in the NBA last year, the Cleveland Cavaliers have quite a few questions. After receiving what should be very limited regular-season minutes, will Shaq be able to contain Orlando's Dwight Howard in the postseason? Will Mo Williams come through in the clutch when the NBA Playoffs arrive? Will newly-acquired Anthony Parker become the two-way force the team was missing on the wing last year? After signing an extremely wealthy contract, will Anderson Varejao be able to defend the four position against athletic dual-threat scorers? Finally, will Leon Powe – acquired from Boston in a crucial move – sway the balance of East power, not only by adding to Cleveland's talent base, but by depleting the Celtics' of a good post player?

The answers to all of the above questions may very well determine whether the Cavs make the NBA Finals to compete for the championship for the second time in four seasons. You can bet that Cleveland Cavalier fans will be stocking up on tickets and packing the Quicken Loans Arena to get the answers they are looking for in Cleveland.
