Chicago Bulls Tickets

The Chicago Bulls have done quite well over the course of the 2012-2013 NBA season. They have been without Derrick Rose but have still managed to become a strong, albeit flawed playoff team. Chicago Bulls tickets to the United Center may even have an extended life in the postseason if this team continues to play an inspired brand of basketball.

That inspired brand is quite predictably built on defense, Coach Tom Thibodeau’s specialty. Unfortunately, at least for the first postseason series, the anchor of the team defense concept is going to be on the bench in a suit and tie or hobbling on the court at best. If Joakim Noah is able to do his best Willis Reed impression then the Bulls may be able to advance thanks to the strong all-around game of Luol Deng, the double-double potential of Carlos Boozer, and the scoring influx from Nate Robinson. If young guns Jimmy Butler and Taj Gibson are able to step up again then the Bulls could even end up in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Chicago Bulls History

The Chicago Bulls started playing professionally back in 1966. Then they were part of one of the first major expansions undertaken by the NBA. The club quickly established itself as a competitive team. They had a pair of tough guards in Norm Van Lier and Jerry Sloan and relied on Bob Love and Chet Walker in the front court. This group had four 50-win seasons in the franchise’s first decade in the league. The Bulls went as far as the conference finals.

All this changed once the NBA merged with the ABA. The Bulls were one of the rare NBA teams to endure worse seasons after the dispersal draft. Of course, this all led to the pivotal summer of 1984. That summer the Bulls drafted Michael Jordan with the third pick. He would alter the direction of the franchise. Before the arrival of Scottie Pippen and Horace Grant as teammates and Phil Jackson as the head coach, Chicago would consistently reach the playoffs and Jordan would consistently lead the league in scoring.

MJ actually changed the way the game was played and was a major reason the league was able to expand once again. Yet, Jordan had to learn to play with the rest of the team before his team would become serious contenders. Jackson convinced Jordan to play within the Tex Winters triangle offense and the Bulls quickly overtook the Detroit Pistons and became the best team in the Eastern Conference and the NBA. With this offense, which worked with Jordan pre and post-baseball, and an oppressive defense the Bulls had two three-peats and won a total of six championships in eight seasons.

These glory days came to an end just as the 21st century began and the front office struggled to find its star for a decade. The dependable Elton Brand and the talented high school duo of Tyson Chandler and Eddy Curry were not enough to avoid the lottery year after year. The next supreme talent to arrive in Chicago was Derrick Rose. Rose has been a dynamic point guard with another level of athleticism that has Bulls fans waiting for the next three-peat.
