Nas also known as Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones is one of the most famous hip-hop singer and is a well-known African-American rapper. His first album Illmatic created waves in the hip-ho scenario. Nas made his solo debut on the single 'Halftime' from the soundtrack of Serch for the film Zebrahead. The single was a commercial success. His fans started looking forward for his next album. His melodic rhyming skills turned many heads towards him.
In the year 1994 Nas' released his debut album, 'Illmatic'. The album was a huge hit and was critically acclaimed too. Ever since the album was released, it has been regarded as one of the best ever albums among the hip-hop scenario. In the year 2002, Nas released the God's Son album. and its lead single, 'Made You Look'. The album appeared at #18. Time Magazine named the album as the best hip-hop album of the year. Vibe Magazine gave it 4 stars and The Source gave it 4 mics. The second single, 'I Can', became one of the biggest hit till date. The song was played in radio on urban, rhythmic, and also in top 40 radio stations, as well as on the MTV and VH1 music video networks. Some of the songs of God's Son has been dedicated in the memory of Nas' mother. In the year 2003, Nas appeared on the Korn song 'Play Me', from Korn's Take a Look in the Mirror LP. Currently he is busy recording songs for his next album 'Hip Hop Is Dead', that is slated to be released in the year 2006.
