The Naked Eyes were formed in Britain in 1981. They had a a key presence in the synth-pop movement that began in the early '80s. The band was comprised of former schoolmates Pete Byrne (vocals) and Rob Fisher (keyboards).
The Naked Eyes debuted in March 1983 with their LP "Burning Bridges." The album was also reissued in the U.S. a month later. The album's lead single, which was a cover of the Burt Bacharach-Hal David perennial "Always Something There to Remind Me," and became a huge hit in Britain and in the United States. The album reached the U.S. Top Ten on the strength of its video, which received heavy airplay on the fledgling MTV network. The band followed their success with an American follow-up, "Promises, Promises." The album was also a major hit, and Naked Eyes looked as of they were going places.

The album's lone single " In the Name of Love" barely squeezed into the Top 40. The duo called it quits after the debacle. However, in 1988 Fisher made a comeback, but before he could make any major headway he died of complications following stomach surgery on August 25, 1999.
