Music Midtown
Promoters changed from Cooley and Conlon's Concert/Southern Promotions to Clear Channel Communications. The festival is held annually on the first weekend of May, eventually for the 2005 festival, the time was changed to June 10-12. the #1 problem, concert-goers have complained about is the weather. Well, it can't exactly be controlled 24/7.
The festival has seen performances by Crosby, Stills and Nash, Bob Dylan, Tony Bennett, Foo Fighters, Medeski, JoeCocker, Martin & Wood, Joe Cocker, The Strokes, B-52's and Def Leppard among many others.
A multi-diverse event, the Music Midtown Festival held in 2004 saw over 120 artists on 11 stages with artists ranging from Ludacris, Steve Miller, Hoobastank etc. this is the entire purpose that Midtown serves. It has a little bit of everything that anyone can enjoy. Also, the same sounding music for 3-days at a stretch and one might not want to return again. 2005 saw acts like Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Lou Reed, Kid Rock and many more. Bad weather or not, Joan Jett came out to show her stuff. Other performers like Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick led the audience into party mode. Def Leppard came to rock out the audience. However, the scene-stealers were Public Enemy, DEVO, Merritt and obviously Tom Petty and the Wailers.
The organizers have Certain Dos and Don'ts. Bring Rain protection apparel no matter how the sky looks in the morning. Outside food and drink is strictly prohibited. Concert-goers prescribe a hat, sunglasses, and light colored clothes as well. Make a schedule to traverse the 40 acre site especially with the large crowds that pour in. No one wants to miss out on their favorite act.
The festival also has many fun-filled activities and stops. There is an Artists' market which has some 700 vendors. An Oxygen Bar is one of the amenities featured there besides a therapeutic massage area, a Cultural Stage and a Film Tent and a Glam Rock booth, where hairdressers and stylists give you a rockstar makeover. Get tickets to the festival quick because with the line-ups that have performed here ,no matter how much the cost of tickets increase, they always sell out.

Artist Biography - Music Midtown
|
Since its inception , Atlanta's Music Midtown has grown tremendously. Bad weather, rising prices, bad traffic cannot stop fans from buying tickets to the show no matter how much they cost.
Alex Cooley and Peter Conlon wanted to created a festival similar to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage festival. On a piece of undeveloped land at Peachtree St. and Tenth St., in the midst of Midtown's business district, the organizers opened its first ever Midtown Music festival. A few years later, the festival had to move its location downtown just north of Centennial Olympic Park. In its previous place was constructed the Federal Reserve Bank. The new venue's surface parking lots and closed-off streets made for an unpleasant, uncomfortable and hot environment to really enjoy music. They stuck around for another 2 years until finally moving to a 42 acre(170,000 sq. m) arena adjoining the SciTrek and the Atlanta Civic Center. There was no stopping for the festival now. In peak years, it attracts a record 3,00,000 attendees.
