Mumford and Sons will be embarking on two tours in 2013. First they will be hitting the United States and Canada on the Summer Stampede and then they will be hitting the road on a faux-festival called the Gentlemen of the Road Stopover. This means there will be plenty of Mumford and Sons tickets for the millions of fans this year.

While the Summer Stampede is a more traditional concert with a headliner and an opening act, the Gentlemen of the Road is something different. It gives plenty of relatively unknown bands a chance to play at an all-day festival with the Mumford and Sons headlining.

All this is not just being organized just to give fans the chance to enjoy one of their favorite bands performing live. Mumford and Sons History

Mumford and Sons are an indie/folk rock band comprised of Marcus Mumford, Winston Marshall, Ben Lovett, and Ted Dwane. The four musicians started playing together back in 2007. From the very beginning they were known as Mumford and Sons. This may seem an egotistical and disastrous move for the group, but all the band members seemed to be quite comfortable with the name. Mumford was most certainly the most visible of the four and he went to all the trouble of booking the shows. Plus, the name seemed to call back to a bygone era, which fit with the style of dress the four preferred.

The group quickly endeared itself to the developing indie folk scene around London. They played with groups like Noah and the Whale, Laura Marling, and Keane. Many people saw the band’s potential, including future band manager Adam Tudhope, but it took another year of performing before Mumford and Sons were ready to sign a major record deal.

They signed with Island Records and toured the smaller venues in the UK and the U.S. All this led up to the release of Sigh No More in 2009. The album became an unexpected hit, getting to number two on the Billboard 200 and going double-platinum in the United States. Of course, Mumford and Sons dominated both the charts and record sales in the UK. This explosion all came because of the sensational single “Little Lion Man”. The song and the album led to a solid three years of touring.

In 2012, Mumford and Sons came back with Babel. The first single from the album, “I Will Wait”, followed in the footsteps of “Little Lion Man” and “The Cave”, making it clear the band would not be a one-hit wonder. The group has even begun headlining major music and arts festivals throughout the United States.
