In 1989, the band returned again, but this time Hlubek was not a part of the band. They released an album of straight, polished AOR, Lightning Strikes Twice, but this album was also a flop. Shortly afterwards, the band disbanded. In the mid 90s, Molly Hatchet, reunited again as an active touring outfit. They released their first record, "Devil's Canyon" in the year 1996 after Lightning Strikes Twice. In 1998 they released their next album Silent Reign of Heroes and in the early 2001 they released Kingdom of XII. A number of live recordings appeared during the next few years and the band's studio follow-up, Warriors of the Rainbow Bridge was released in the year 2005.
