Background - St Louis Cardinals
St. Louis has been blessed with some of the best players as well. Roger Hornsby, Stan Musial, and Bob Gibson each took the field for the venerable National League club. 2008 Midseason Update

 For much of the first half of the season St. Louis Cardinals tickets have gained entry to Busch Stadium to see a team quietly within striking distance of the Chicago Cubs. Now the Milwaukee Brewers have begun their own run and the National League Central is a neck and neck race between three very good teams fighting for the division title and likely the wild card.
St. Louis has done this despite dire preseason predictions. The team has responded with decent pitching and an explosive offense. When people buy Cardinals tickets they expect to see Albert Pujols and this season he has not disappointed. His .356 average, 18 home runs, and 64 RBI make him the complete offensive package. The shocker is that the leader in home runs is almost former major league pitcher. Rick Ankiel has steadily improved his average while maintaining his incredible swing that first inspired the experiment. With 22 homeruns he is second to Ryan Ludwick (23 homeruns).
The fire power is needed when the pitching has been average at best. Kyle Lohse has been doing great on the mound with a 12-2 record and a 3.35 ERA. Fans are not getting Cardinals tickets for the pitching though. If Adam Wainwright can recover from his finger injury and pitch the same the club would be much better off, but in the meantime St. Louis has a glut of starters with an ERA over 4.00. For the Cardinals to advance to the postseason and sell playoff tickets somebody has to step up take the pressure off the bullpen.
