Background - Seattle Mariners
Seattle recovered quickly from the MLB strike in 1994 by taking 2 of the next three American League West division titles coming close to the World Series in 1995. The Mariners failed to build on the surprising season over the next couple of years and by 2004 Seattle fans with season tickets were watching a rebuilding effort. The effort showed signs of finally turning the club around in 2007 after three seasons in last place n the American League West. Mariners tickets saw a rejuvenated club make a strong run at the division title, only to fall in second place with their first winning record in four seasons.

2008 Season Preview
|
 The Mariners have struggled the first half of the 2008 season. Seattle fans thought they had tickets for a club ready to make a run to dethrone the Angels, but instead are left watching the Mariners dwindle in last place again. Both the pitching and the batting have been down this year. Ichiro Suzuki is struggling to hit .300 and Richie Sexson has stopped slugging enough home runs to justify his strikeouts, promoting the Mariners to release him. Mariner tickets are not without any value though. Felix Hernandez is still one of the emerging pitchers in the American League and Erik Bedard is coming back from an injury.
The Mariners remaining games at Safeco Field should be interesting as the club tries to build a respectable record to carry them into next season.
