Background - Oakland Athletics
The A's fans gladly bought tickets to see stars like hitters Reggie Jackson, Sal Bando, and Bert Campaneries and pitchers Catfish Hunter, Rollie Fingers, and Vida Blue bring long, untamed hair to the playoffs. The A's returned to the postseason after a tough early part of the ‘80s with Mark McGuire, Jose Conseco, and Rickey Henderson. Trades sent Rich Harden to the Cubs after a stellar first half and are in the works to send Joe Blanton to the Phillies.
