New York Mets Tickets The New York Mets had a terrible 2009. This MLB baseball went 70-92 and stunk up Citi Field in the stadium's inaugural season. New York Mets tickets were at least good for a winning home record. The Mets offense was none existent for most of the season and the pitching was in the bottom third of the league. The team also logged nearly as much time on the injured list as they did on the field. Still, they were a non-factor in the NL East and are questionable in the upcoming season. The 2010 preview should be taken with a grain of salt because everything is written with the assumption that the team and its stars will be healthy. Another question is whether David Wright will be a contact hitter or a power hitter. Last season he hit .307 and 10 home runs and in the two seasons before he hit at least 30 home runs while hitting over .300. The other question marks are outfielders Carlos Beltran and Jeff Francoeur. Beltran is 32 so it is conceivable that he could return to all star form. Francoeur is young and still has star potential. Shortstop Jose Reyes is back to after playing just 36 games last season. A key addition to this team is Jason Bay. Bay completes the outfield in left field as a slugger (though also a strike out machine). Suddenly between the returning stars, the new addition, and players that actually had pretty good seasons in 2009 like second baseman Luis Castillo and first baseman Daniel Murphy, the Mets fans should excited about the offense. Johan Santana had a great season as the staff ace and Francisco Rodriguez had a pretty good year as a closer. The rest of the starting rotation needs to shape up though. John Maine had a decent half season but the rest of the rotation fell out of favor with the baseball gods. Something has to go the Mets way this next season considering all the bad luck last season (including the Yankees winning it all last year to open their new stadium).

 After the Giants and the Dodgers left New York for a burgeoning West Coast baseball market, Major League Baseball felt the need to have a National League team in New York. That team was the New York Mets. Excited fans purchased tickets to see a team full of old stars from the three New York franchises. The Mets fan-friendly roster debuted that season in 1962 under the guidance of beloved former Yankees skipper Casey Stengel with a 40-120 record. The "Lovable Losers" captured fans with tickets offering reminiscent players rather than a competitive team. The decade wore on with finishes in last or next to last place until 1969. The season started out with a young roster unable to capitalize on the talent of Tom Seaver, Jerry Grote, and Bud Harrelson. Tickets were in despair by the middle of August. The Mets were doing better, in third place instead of last, but they were still 10 games out with the season coming to a close. A hot streak at the end of the season had them finish in first place and upset victories in the National League Championship Series and the World Series had brought the Mets from "Lovable Losers" to the "Miracle Mets". The seasons since have followed the same pattern. The Mets and their season tickets holders will suffer through a series of bad seasons before the talented club will break out and make a deep playoff run, sometimes landing them in the World Series. The Mets won last in 1986 with Tom Gordon, Darryl Strawberry, and Howard Johnson and visited the series last in 2000 with a subway series against the Yankees.
