Background - Minnesota Twins
The Twins history as the Senators was not without some highlights. Fans with tickets during the 1910s and the 1920s saw a team with stars like Walter Johnson, Goose Goslin, Sam Rice, and Bucky Harris. That era of Twins history yielded three pennants and one World Series victory, but the futile years that followed and the dive in sales of tickets that drove the franchise out of the capitol are fresher in the mind of baseball fans.
The move to Minnesota in 1961 was fresh start almost paid off immediately. The inaugural year in the north had new Twins fans with tickets to a playoff contender in its first two seasons. By 1965 Twins tickets were World Series tickets. The team lost, but the culture of winning had the Twins in contention or at least decent shape for the next few decades.
Eventually, the Minnesota Twins had to break free from the middle of the pack. That time came in the late ‘80s and in the first half of the ‘90s. Kirby Puckett, Kent Hrbek, Tom Brunanasky, Gary Gaetti, and Frank Viola would be the basis for a Twins team that competed for playoff tickets every season. The Twins came through with championships in '78 and '91 before returning to mediocrity. The turn of the century has been promising for the Twins. Season tickets see a Twins roster that regularly competes for the American League Central crown and the Wild Card.

 The Minnesota Twins have done it again. The 25th ranked salary is right in the mix of playoff tickets, fighting the Chicago White Sox fro first place. The team overcame some early struggles that put the value of season tickets in doubt, but Justin Morneau and Joe Maurer redeemed themselves and brought hope back to the Metrodome.
The Twins has moved into the top tier of offenses despite Justin Monreau being the home run leader on the team with only 14 home runs. Twins tickets are more likely to see games won with timely hitting by Joe Mauer, Jason Kubel and Delomn Young than a three smash by the power hitter. Minnesota's pitching has been improving, but Twins starting pitchers other than Scott Baker and Nick Blackburn need quality starts to make the playoffs happen for fans eagerly holding their tickets.
