Background - Houston Astros
The Astros started out as a struggling expansion team just trying to find their way out of last place. Although the team improved in the ‘70s, it was not until the 1980s when Nolan Ryan and Joe Morgan were added for leadership that Houston seriously started to get ready for playoff tickets. The Astros ended up finishing in first three times that decade and contending in most of the remaining seasons.
The next decade, Houston became enthralled with Craig Biggio and Jeff Bagwell. The duo played together from 1991 to 2005 and brought home four division titles, a couple of wild cards, and a World Series appearance. Astros tickets were worth it for the most part, with only two losing seasons over the 15 year span.
Since then the team has struggled to find itself a new dynamic duo to replace the two future Hall of Famers. Minute Maid Park has looked to Carlos Lee and Lance Berkman have been doing their best to recreate the magic the two Houston baseball legends brought for years.

2008 Midseason Update
|
 The season has not been a complete loss for the Astros. Houston is putting together an ok season considering the team is still struggling to find itself after Biggio retired last season and the remnants of a team built with free agents to back the pair of Biggio and Bagwell playing through their hefty contracts. The contracts, at the very least, guarantee that the team has the fire power to make Astros tickets worth it at Minute Maid Park.
The season may be lost from a team point of view after the first half of the schedule, but plenty of individual performances are worth watching. Lance Berkman has had a fine season so far with a .338 average, 22 home runs, and 73 RBI. His numbers have been overshadowed by those of the terrific all around performances of Albert Pujos and Chipper Jones. Berkman has then over shadowed another great season by Carlos Lee (.306, 22, 80). The two offensive stars have not been enough to overcome the problems with the starting pitching, but they have been doing well enough to justify buying Astros tickets for the rest of the season.
