 The Arizona Diamondbacks finished the NL West 70-92 and in last pace in the NL West. They trailed the first place Los Angeles Dodgers by 25 games. The team struggled throughout the 2009 MLB season, with the pitching never quite coming together and the young pieces at the positions not quite making the jump they needed to be a major factor in the division. Not every pitcher struggled though. Starter Dan Haren weathered trade rumors and went 14-10 with a 3.19 ERA. Starters Doug Davis and Max Scherzer both had an ERA of 4.12 and picked up nine wins. Even Jon Garland had a decent season before being traded to the Dodgers. Overall, the Diamondbacks finished with the sixth worse ERA in the NL. The batting order did not hit that well (fourth worse in the NL) and showed little patience at the plate (sixth worse on base percentage), but they managed to move the runners once they got on base, finishing eighth in runs scored in the league. The offensive MVP had to be right fielder Justin Upton, who hit .300, had 26 homeruns, drive in 86, and stole 20 bases. Third baseman Mark Reynolds was not bad either, finishing fourth in MLB with 44 home runs. While the 2009 season may have been a little disappointing, the 2010 season has some promise at Chase Field. Diamondbacks baseball is on an upswing with a bevy of young of players. Arizona Diamondbacks tickets will surely do well as this team might be able to make the final turn next season.
