Background - Texas Rangers
The Rangers wavered between good and bad seasons for the next few years, but kept the attendance up by attracting power pitcher Nolan Ryan to sell tickets. 2009 Midseason Update

 The Texas Rangers have been that team with one of the most powerful offenses and one of the worst pitching staffs in the past few seasons. Well, in a year that has seen the AL West turned on its head, the Rangers now sport a still very powerful offense, but also a pitching staff whose performance are not nearly as cringe worthy. Rangers tickets to the Rangers Ballpark at Arlington are suddenly tickets to watch a team try and hold off two contenders as they try and remain in first place and make the playoffs for the first time since 1999.
The Rangers are still a power hitting team. Michael Young, Nelson Cruz, Ian Kinsler, Hank Blalock, and Chris Davis are all already in double digits for homeruns. However, Young is a double threat, hitting .300, and Cruz and Kinsler are threats on the base paths as well. The offense still is not the best at making contact or scoring with small ball, but they are now more than simply a bunch of sluggers. The order should continue to flourish as the heat in Texas rises, providing plenty of fireworks for all those fans that brought tickets to the game.
Unfortunately for the Rangers, the heat works both ways and as the schedule progresses, the Rangers pitchers, who have been able to keep their collective ERA down to a very pedestrian 4.34 in the American League, could see the dreaded jump in their runs allowed. Kevin Millwood has been able to keep his ERA below 3.00 and Scott Feldman, Vincent Padilla, and Brandon McCarthy have managed to allow less than five runs a game. Frank Francisco has taken over the role of closer phenomenally for C.J. Wilson. Rangers tickets should be interesting for the rest of the season, while the fans see if the teams can keep it up for the rest of the season schedule.
