Tampa Bay Rays Tickets

The Tampa Bay Rays farm system has lost its talent it once possessed. Past years the team was filled an overabundance of talent but the team was indeed impaired with the recent graduation of American League Rookie for the current year Wil Myers along with runner-up Chris Archer. Also, there is an infinite flow of key league-ready arms in the upper levels positioned to create a huge impact in upcoming seasons. It is officially confirmed that the team will miss David Price,Jeremy Hellickson and Matt Moor. Team’s lineup has quite a few promises within the infield.

Left hander Enny Romero will be the actual replacement of Myers as team’s top prospect this season. Enny Romero has been extremely good during late season playoff race. In order to avoid arbitration the team is on an agreement for a one year deal with former player David Price. For the first time Tampa Bay Rays has agreed to pay $14 million for a single year.

Jake Odorizzi, Jesse Hahn and Alex Colome will be in the starting rotation by the late 2015 season. The trio of right-handers is expected to take part in the major leagues of the current year. Nick Ciuffo is remarkably good for his unique potential as a dual threat catcher. And Andrew Toles is well known for his aggressive speed during the game. The 2014 season of Rays has a pretty good collection of center fielder Kevin Kiermaier, Hak-Ju Lee to cover the shortstop position and Ryan Brett to fill the second baseman position.

Apparently, the Rays spend the off season making moves to incorporate more business depth. Also, the team has a solid collection of skilled players in their minor league organization. Hopefully the team will utilize the skills of the new players and eventually help the team at the major league level.

Tampa Bay Rays

Tampa Bay Rays History

The Tampa Bay Rays are one of the youngest franchises in the MLB and are just beginning to emerge from a much maligned existence in which the team seemed a failed experiment to extend the local baseball season beyond spring. A brief summarization of the club’s history can be that the team brought summer baseball to the Tampa area in 1998, dropped the Devils from the name after 2007, and introduced fall ball in 2008.

At first the fans had to endure the Devil Rays and a painful stretch that lasted a decade. It did not help that they were playing in a division with the Yankees and the Red Sox. So, when the team posted 100-loss seasons three times and could not finish with fewer than 91 losses it appeared the franchise had to be a target during the brief talks of retraction in the MLB.

Then the front office dropped the Devils and became the Rays. Tampa suddenly reversed its record and its position in the standings. The team won 97 games and finished in first place. Since this incredible 2008 season, the Rays have been to the playoffs in two of the last four seasons.

The strength of the team has been the impressive crops of starting pitchers coming up through the farm system. Pitchers like James Shields, Matt Garza, and David Price have flirted with or won the Cy Young Award. The rotation always seems to go at least three deep and rarely are these three older than 30.

In addition, Tampa seems to be a place to arrive to rejuvenate careers. First baseman Carlos Pena won the Comeback Player of the Year award in 2007 and closer Fernando Rodney repeated the task in 2012. It could be the managing style of Joe Maddon, a man who has won the Manager of the year Award twice since 2008. It could also be that General Manager Andrew Friedman is a master of cutting waste and finding players in need of a place to start over.

No matter which factors are really the driving force, the future finally appears to be bright in Tampa Bay, with winning records almost a certainty for the foreseeable future.
