San Diego Padres Tickets
The winning started picking up in the 1980s. In 1984, after two 81-81 seasons, the San Diego rewarded those with Padres tickets with a rip to the World Series. That same year Tony Gwynn won his first batting trophy. He and Steve Garvey, Gary Templton, and Alan Wiggins won the National League West, came back from an 0-2 deficit to beat the Cubs, and lost to the Tigers after the engine ran out of fuel.
The Padres would occasionally put up a fight, but not return to the World Series until 1998. Tony Gwynn, Ken Caminiti, Wally Joyner, Greg Vaughn, and Steve Finley provided the offense and Kevin Brown, Andy Ashby, and Trevor Hoffman provided the mound support. The Yankees ended the championship bid, and Padres tickets once again were available for a struggling team that played in beautiful weather.

 The San Diego Padres fans suffered through a tough 2009 MLB season at PETCO Park, as the Padres went 75-87 and were never truly in the division race in the NL West apart from a brief 9-5 run to begin the year. The team ended the season in fourth place, 20 games behind the first place Dodgers. Fans were able to see a good home club that went 42-39 at home and missed the bad baseball on the road that led to a 33-48 away record. The San Diego pitching staff was actually alright in comparison to the Padres offense. The staff earned the 10th best ERA in the NL at 4.37, while the batting order managed to score the second least amount of runs in the league. The only bat worth talking about is Adrian Gonzalez. Gonzalez hit 40 home runs with little protection in the lineup, which was good for fifth best in all of the MLB. He also led the team in hitting among regulars with a .277 average and had the best On Base Percentage at .407. He fell one RBI short of 100 and scored 90 runs. He is the talk of the winter as many expect the Padres to trade him for enough prospects to kick start this baseball franchise again. The Padres pitching staff was supposed to have a definite ace in Jake Peavy, but injuries and a midseason trade meant that the he would only pitch 12 games. Instead Kevin Correia stepped in ace the de facto ace, going 12-11 with a 3.91 ERA. Tim Stauffer provided some help in the rotation late in the season, but for most of the schedule the bullpen tried to cover for the few starting pitching efforts worth a win. PETCO Park will be an interesting place in the 2010 baseball season as some of the young pitchers try and fill out the rotation and the front office tries to create a semi-potent offense. Look for Padres tickets and enjoy seeing the parts come together over the summer.
