Derek Jeter will continue to test the resolve of the Big Apple's nostalgia. Now back to the pitching staff. The NY Yankees just resigned C.C. Sabathia to a massive five-year contract extension. This shores up a staff ace for quite some time. Early projections fill out the rotation with Hiroki Kurado, Ivan Nova, Michael Pineda, and A.J. Burnett. Kurado has been the most notable addition so far. Kurado has continually proven himself in Los Angeles. The other addition is Pineda. He has been acquired via a trade and is an intriguing young prospect in the mold of Sabathia. If he makes a jump in his second major league season, then this could be one of the best front-of-the-rotations in the American League, and perhaps the best in the AL East. Nova gives some sense of hope that the back of the rotation will not hinder the Yanks in the pennant race with the Rays and Red Sox. The Yankees have endured few title droughts, but whenever they do the fans clamor for the organization to throw more money at the problem and bring in the latest batch of stars, no matter where they are playing at the time or how much money they will cost.
