New York Mets Tickets

The New York Mets is a professional team of baseball whose headquarters is found in Queens in the City of New York. Majorly they play in Major League Baseball (MLB). The Mets was founded in 1962 and it is one of the first teams to expand the game of baseball. This is the team that replaced the National League teams of New York such as the Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Giants.

The Mets use different colors and these colors mainly compose of the Giants’ orange and the Dodgers’ blue. Polo grounds are where the Mets played their home games between 1962 and 1963 however from 1964 to 2008 their home ballpark changed to Shea Stadium. However in the year 2009 they again decided to move to another ballpark which was Citi Field.

The Mets have played several games since their inauguration which took place in 1962.They have played the greatest upsets in the history of world series including the dramatic run which took place in 1973.During this time Game seven loss to a team known as Oakland Athletics which took position two in 1986 and became champions. In the 2000 World Series again the Subway Series lost to the rivals of cross town who were the New York Yankees

Since this time the New York Mets have only made one appearance and this was in 2006 when they came within one of the World Series games and this is the time that they lost to the champions of St. Louis Cardinals. In 2007 and 2008 the Mets were unlucky since they lost all their games on the last day and since then they have had a tendency of losing chances each year. They decided to hire a new general manager called Sandy Alderson and a manager known as Terry Collins and this was in 2010.Due to this great changes in both players and the coaches, the Mets are likely to perform better this season.

New York Mets History

The New York Mets have been playing professional baseball since the Giants and Dodgers left the city for the West Coast. The fact that they played in the same city as the Yankees did not make those first few seasons in the 1960s any easier. The club was going to struggle, but the struggle was amplified by the championships being won in the Bronx.

The franchise had its first big season in 1969. This would be the first year the Mets would finish the schedule with a winning record, but this is not why this season is so memorable. The Mets played inspirational baseball in the last third of the season, catching and surpassing the NL East-leading Cubs and ending the year with 100 wins. It seemed each player on the roster chose to play at a career-best level over the course of the last 49 games. Tom Seaver won the Cy Young Award and led the club to the World Series, where the Mets beat the Orioles in five games.

This caliber of success would not become commonplace for the Mets, but the team did begin to put together consecutive winning seasons. The club even reached a second World Series (but lost) despite only winning 82 games in the regular season.

The true evolution into contenders came a decade later when Darryl Strawberry, Howard Johnson, Gary Carter, Keith Hernandez, and Dwight Gooden became nationally recognized names. The NY Mets highlights during this run in the late 1980s are the 1986 World Series win over the Red Sox and the 100-win 1988 season.

In the years since Mets fans have had players like Mike Piazza to cheer on, but a third World Series win escaped the high-priced free agent-laden rosters. The 21st century has been one in which the front office has tried to rebuild the farm system. Only time will tell if the prospects are able to lead the charge and deliver another MLB title.
