Minnesota Twins Tickets

The Minnesota Twins was founded in 1894. Many of its members have secured places in the Hall of Fame for Baseball like Sam Rice, Joe Cronin, Walter Johnson and Bucky Harris. The team has always been quick in acquiring rising and established stars throughout history.

Although they haven’t been performing well in the past decade, they have been able to win several titles a couple of times in the past.

Most of their home games are normally played in Minnesota at Target Field. In 2010, they managed 94 wins with their manager Ron Gardenhire. Minnesota Twins has also acquired some new players who have been making regular appearances especially in the home games. These include: Danny Valencia, Jim Thome, Orlando Hudson and Matt Capps. That year was marked by few losses that were evident particularly after Justin Morneau suffered a head injury. He didn’t play for the rest of the season which consequently affected overall performance of the team.

Things looked a bit brighter in 2011. The Minnesota Twins entered the season with all its players stronger than ever before. They signed midfielder Tsuyoshi Nishioka from Japan. However, he sustained severe injuries later into the season. This forced the manager to reconsider his list and Carl Pavano was re-signed. Despite their loss, they managed to win more than 3 million fans that year.

2012 and 2013 were also slow years for the team. They lost very many games and by August 2013, they were the last team in the American League. Later on that month, they announced that they were going to be the hosts of the All-Star Game, 2014. However, they managed to redeem their name by coming 4th place in the AL Central.

So, will Minnesota Twins turn the tables around in 2014? It’s still too early to judge because the managers have surely learnt from past mistakes and have strategies in place.

Minnesota Twins

Minnesota Twins

The Minnesota Twins have a long history that has had them play in two cities. For the first six decades the club played baseball as the Nationals and the Senators in Washington, D.C. For the past five decades they have played in Minnesota as the Twins.

The time spent in the nation’s capital yielded three pennants and one World Series win. The team became a joke, almost consistently finishing in last place in the American League. The luck of a team should have been much better given the fact they had Hall of Fame pitcher Walter Johnson and Hall of Fame third baseman Harmon Killebrew on the roster. Yet, the only thing inspiring about the team became its futility, which led to the making of the film Damn Yankees.

The move to Minnesota came as part of the westward expansion of the MLB, but the relocation has not led to many more pennants or World Series titles. Still, the team’s tradition has certainly been better as the Twins than as the Senators. In Minneapolis the club has won two more World Series and three more pennants, but the club has been rather competitive throughout its time in the upper-Midwest. They have played in the postseason 11 times, won the AL Central six times and took the AL West five times.

Players like Rod Carew, Kirby Puckett, Jack Morris, and Bert Blyleven made this club both watchable and competitive in the second half of the 20th century. In the 21st century, the Minnesota Twins managed to win the AL West with six times in the first decade despite employing very few well-known players. Recent years have been about rebuilding after injuries humbled the team. Soon the club will be back to its winning ways and collecting division titles, if not AL Pennants.
