Houston Astros Tickets The Houston Astros are coming into the 2012 season schedule a team looking to rebuild. The fans at Minute Maid Park will be looking upon a field boasting names that may not be seen again. Two-thirds of the batting order may not see time at the MLB level again in their career. Wandy Rodriguez, Bud Norris, J.A. Happ, Brett Myers, and Livan Hernandez are expected to make up the five. Rodriguez, Myers, and Happ will be gone by midseason. Then Jordan Lyles will be called back up. Lyles came up as a 20-year old and was overwhelmed by his first brush with hitters at the MLB level. Norris will be the ace by the end of the summer, and not just because of the attrition. Rather, Norris made huge strides last summer and is expected to become a worthy top of the rotation starter in 2012. Houston may have the opportunity to see these next five players, dependent on how ready the front office believes they are. Jarred Cosart is a 21-year-old pitcher with a terrific fastball and curve and a passable changeup. If he fixes his delivery he will cut down on his time to the plate, avoid injuries down the road, and get a few games at the MLB level in 2012 to test his control when the pressure is on. First baseman Jonathan Singleton is expected to arrive next season. The Houston Astros acquired him in the trade for Hunter Pence. Once Lee is gone, he is going to be called up. Sadly he is likely to put up just as good of numbers as Lee. He will eventually be a hitter capable of knocking 30 pitches out of the park. This is going to be a transition year at Minute Maid Park and we have Houston Astros tickets to enjoy the transformation.

By 1965 the team had been inspired by NASA, changed their name to the Astros, and began playing in the then-engineering marvel known as the Astrodome. Now the Astros play in the Minute Maid Park and the team is trying to regain that magic that made the baseball team such a force in the late 1990s and through the middle of the first decade of the 21st century. The Astros began as a franchise trying to avoid the Mets mistakes and start the team history with a youth movement. Jimmy Wynn, Rusty Staub, and Joe Morgan proved a promising trio in 1963, but the experiment failed and soon veterans like Eddie Matthew were signed to put fans in the seats. Houston struggled and the Astros schedule continued to leave little hope. Astros tickets began to turn around in the 1980s with the addition of no-hit machine Nolan Ryan. The team took three division titles in the NL West, but lost in the first round each postseason. Houston had a bright future though, just a decade later. The Houston Astros took four NL Central titles from 1997 to 2001. The team was led by Craig Biggio and Jeff Bagwell. The two all stars could not advance beyond the NLDS though, going 2-12 during that run. Houston remained competitive, consistently finishing in second in the division for the next five seasons. Two of those years, Astros tickets were available for the postseason at Minute Maid Park via the wild card spot. Both years the team advanced to the NLCS, and in 2005 the team even played in the World Series. The 2005 Houston Astros lost in four straight to a Chicago White Sox team apparently bound by destiny to end their title drought.
