Baltimore Orioles Tickets
In a division packed with big spenders, the Baltimore Orioles are the perennial underdog of the AL East. At the start of each season, they are ranked in the bottom, expected to go nowhere, and somehow manage to contend, much to the surprise of their critics. The 2017 season should be no different, as this squad has the talent and management to succeed, it is up to the players to make it happen. When it comes to Baltimore’s pitching, depth, rather than star power is the strength of their rotation. Chris Tillman is still their ace, despite a shoulder injury that ended his 2016 campaign. Both Kevin Gausman and Dylan Bundy are still in a developmental phase, but have the potential to be excellent pitchers for this Orioles’ team. That leaves two spots for veterans Ubaldo Jimenez, Wade Miley and Yovani Gallardo to prove themselves during Spring Training.
With a record last season of 47-for-47 in saves, lefthander Zach Britton posted a 0.54 ERA and topped the league when it comes to relievers. A season like that will be difficult to repeat, however this Baltimore team is stocked with talent in their bullpen. Darren O’Day, Brad Bach and Mychal Givens should all contribute nicely this season along with Donnie Hart, who came up last year from Double-A as a worthy specialist. Jonathan Schoop and J.J. Hardy are one of the best double-play tandems in the league, with Schoop’s massive arm and Hardy’s reliability at the shortstop position. Third baseman Manny Machado excels not only with his defensive skills, but registered 37 home runs and 40 doubles at the plate in 2016. Chris Davis at first, played most of last season with a hand injury, however when healthy is solid in all areas. In the outfield, Baltimore has Adam Jones, Hyun Soo Kim and Mark Trumbo with Joey Rickard looking like possible a fill-in for Kim. For the first time since 2009, Matt Weiters will not be behind the plate, replaced with Welington Castillo, who signed a one-year, six million dollar deal that also includes a seven million dollar option for 2018.
Led by Buck Showalter, who changed a losing culture in Baltimore, this team has posted five straight winning seasons with three post season appearances since 2012. This roster is primed to exceed expectations again in 2017, so be sure to secure your Baltimore Orioles tickets early. You won’t want to miss another exciting year of MLB action.
