The Los Angeles Angels are potentially going to be taking the AL West by storm. They have added plenty of fire power with Albert Pujols and Chris Iannetta and have perhaps the deepest starting rotation in the MLB. Angels tickets are certainly going to be gone quickly as the 2012 season schedule begins at Angels Stadium.

The arrival of first baseman Albert Pujols came as a surprise to many. The Los Angeles Angels already had Kendrys Morales at first and not too long ago he seemed to have more than enough power to secure the position. An ankle injury had landed him on the DL for the past couple of seasons, but he was expected to be back in full force in 2012. Well, the Angels were not willing to bet the season on his recovery and suddenly Los Angeles has a glut of hitters at DH, with Morales battling for at bats with Bobby Abreu and Mark Trumbo. If Morales can truly return to his 2009 form, then he is the clear choice and he and Pujols will the most feared duo in baseball.

Ianetta will take at catcher and join the likes of second baseman Howard Kendrick, right fielder Torii Hunter, and center fielder Peter Bourjos. That batting order could include another potential 30-home run hitter if manager Mike Scioscia is willing to live with Trumbo as a defensive liability at third base. If not, then Alberto Callaspo is a defensive choice and the 9th hitter in the order.

There is more to this impressive roster than the offense. The pitching goes six deep with potential starters. Jered Weaver is the ace, Dan Haren would be an ace on most other clubs, C.J. Wilson is another prized free agent signing, and Ervin Santana would be at the top of the order on most other baseball teams. The fifth starter is likely going to be a decision between Jerome Williams and Garrett Richards. These pitchers need to great if not just to cover for the suspect defense on the field.

Every team in the MLB has a flaw and the Angels is the team's bullpen. GM Jerry Dipoto tried to shore up the group with the addition of LaTroy Hawkins, but Hawkins is never a guarantee. The biggest concern has to be in the ninth inning, where Jordan Walden blew 10 games. He may be a hurler with triple-digit fastballs, but he needs to become far more consistent if the Angles are to upend the Rangers and take the AL West.
