Ryan and Tanana may have been an exciting strike out duo, but their records were not as impressive as the heat they brought, prompting the Angels to depart with both pitchers despite outcry from the season tickets holders. By the late 1970s the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim thought they were going to remain in contention after a lineup with MVP Don Baylor, Bert Campaneris, Rod Carew, Dan Ford, and Bobby Grich would usher in a new era of Angels domination.
The 1979 season made playoff tickets available, but the 1980s were a time of the Angels just missing the division chase in the AL West. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim eventually moved beyond a threat and took the team and its fans to the World Series in 2002 with plenty of tickets for fans and families. Since then, the Angels have been a constant contender out of the AL West.

2009 Midseason Update
|
 Up is down and down is up for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The best hitting team in the American League has runners that can seemingly take any base but home. The baseball club that once had more quality starting pitchers than it knew what to do with is struggling to find three more that can last more than a few starts. Yes, Angels tickets to Angels Stadium are not what they used to be as the team struggles to secure first place in the AL West since what seems like forever (but was actually just a few years ago in 2006).
Chone Figgins, Torii Hunter, and Juan Rivera are all batting over .300 with Bobby Abreu and Mike Napoli sporting good averages as well. The team has some power with Hunter, Rivera, and Kendry Morales and has some speed with Figgins, Hunter, and Abreu. Yet, despite all this offense the Angels rank ninth in the American League in runs scored.
The woes continue with the pitching staff. Jered Weaver and Joe Saunders are the only two consistent starters (Weaver is having an incredible year) and Brian Fuentes has been good, but not nearly as good as last season's closer, Francisco Rodriguez. Injuries, desperate signings, and the tragedy of Nick Ardenhart's death have plagued this once great pitching staff. Still the second half schedule has some promise of better things ahead. Sean Sullivan is a rookie who had a solid first outing. That, coupled with the fact that they play in the AL West and are only a game behind the Texas Rangers, a team whose pitching staff should be set to burst once the summer heat arrives, are a good reason to get Angels tickets for the rest of the season.
