Boston Red Sox Tickets

 the New York Yankees right out of the gate to start the second half of the 2009 MLB season. The Red Sox clinched the Wild Card with a 95-67 record and met the Los Angeles Angels in the divisional round. Boston then went down in three straight games, being outscored 16-7 in the series. The loss ended a promising season and left Red Sox faithful to rethink the past wins after it was revealed that David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez both took performance enhancing drugs.During the season, Boston dominated with a powerful offense and average pitching. The batting order ranked 3rd in runs scored in the American League and the team excelled at every aspect of offense in baseball. They could hit, draw walks, hit the ball over the fence, and even steal bases. The Red Sox had four players with 20 or more home runs (Jason Bay led the team with 36) and two players with more than 20 steals (Jacoby Ellsbury led the team with 70). Kevin Youkilis began the season threatening to lead the AL and perhaps even hit .400. Over the course of the season his average settled at .305 to lead the team. The Boston Red Sox were advertised as one of the deepest pitching teams in baseball before the 2009 season began. Starting pitchers Jon Lester and Josh Beckett proved that they could hold up there part of the rotation with a combined 32-14 record. Tim Wakefield struggled as all knuckleball pitchers do and injuries robbed the rotation of its supposed potency. In the end rookie Clay Buchholz had some valuable experience, finishing 7-4 with a 4.21 ERA in 16 starts, and earned a spot in the starting rotation for the 2010 season. Elsewhere, injuries and age hindered Brad Penny, Daisuke Matsuzaka, John Smoltz, and a few other temporary starters. The 2010 MLB season should be interesting with the Yankees officially back and having returned to the World Series. Baseball fans at Fenway Park have to wonder if the world is going to go back to where it once was, where the Yankees were perennial favorites and the Boston Red Sox played second banana and took the fall all too often. Red Sox tickets will surely sell once again, but to a fan base that is once again blind in their devotion but filed with trepidation as the team begins the pennant race.
