Mindi Abair, an American smooth jazz saxophonist, was born on May 31, 1969 . She is known to be among the Top-40 pop music background. What made her receive enormous fame was her backing the musicians for such acts as Mandy Moore and the Backstreet Boys. She often used to appear in their tours.

She was born in a tour to a musical family. Her talent started to appear when she was just three as she started playing saxophone with her tender hands. After a few years, she also started writing songs. She went to Los Angeles and launched her own band. She started working with artists from renowned bands like Gap Band, Adam Sandler, Mandy Moore, John Tesh, Teena Marie, and the Backstreet Boys. She started working exclusively to create her own music. Her debut disc was released in 1999. The Backstreet Boys connection worked miracles for herand she came off with Love. In 2000, she released Always and Never the Same.

With flair to develop her talents and expose her hidden skills, Abair, in 2003, decided to give a try to jazz. As she had enormous interest in her deed, her act gained enormous success. She made big hits including "Lucy's," "Flirt," and "Save the Last Dance" whose name has been inspired from the Julia Stiles-Sean Patrick Thomas movie.

It will not be a lie to say that Mindi is a female of versatile personality as she is also singing, although not regularly, but, occasionally. The evidence of her singing could be collected after hearing her vocal cover version of the Eagle-Eye Cherry hit ‘Save Tonight' on her debut album. Continuing with her success records, she gave another hit "True Blue" in 2006.

Due to her depth in her music, her sound is also compared with that of big names like Walter Beasley's and Boney James'. Many other respectable sax players are also known to be giving her the inspirations. Even the critics have never criticised her work. On the contrary, they gave her good praise. Abair has true "chops" to play real jazz music, was the remark of the most of critics.

Besides playing saxophone, Abair is also known to play with her fingers on the flute and keyboards. She is also doing vocals and there is no compromise on any of her qualities. She never slows down and gives the best what ever it may be, jazz, flute, singer and so on.
