They're a decent offensive team (70 ppg) led by Travis Diener (19 ppg, 6 apg) who is one of the toughest players in the game and certainly has leadership ability. But he has help, with Steve Novak (13 ppg, 5 rpg) shooting threes, and Dameon Mason (9 ppg, 5 rpg) ready to blossom into a potential all-league player. Also big newcomers 7'0 Mike Kinsella and 6'8 Ryan Amoroso will be called upon to provide an inside presence as inside scoring could still be an issue for this squad.

A good thing for Marquette has been Tom Crean's decision to not pursue Ohio State (although it's clear that Buckeyes AD Andy Geiger didn't put forth much of an effort, either). It shows he's committed to staying with the Eagles as they enter the Big East in 2005. If they can develop a regular threat, then the Eagles should be a sleeper to rise again in Conference USA.
The Eagles (19-12 SU, 8-9 ATS) had the unenviable task of replacing Dwyane Wade last season. They still lost a few games they shouldn't have, or at least by wide margins. Defense has been a problem for Marquette and they allowed 44% shooting by opponents from the field.
