Bob Chesnutt's debut album 'Too Cold at Home' was brought out in 1990 and the title single hit it big and landed in the country Top Five. That was just the beginning and he went on to pull a few other Top Ten hits in the album - 'Brother Jukebox,' 'Blame It on Texas,' 'Your Love Is a Miracle,' and 'Broken Promise Land.'. The next string of success came through his next work Longnecks & Short Stories in 1992. It added four more Top Five singles to his kitty, including the chart-topping 'I'll Think of Something,' which also caught the attention of his inspiration, George Jones. It also made more heads turn towards him and his fan base was exploding. He later admitted that his loyal fan base is definitely one of the main reasons for his consistent success. One might realize that it is entirely true as he was one of Billboard's Ten Most-Played Radio Artists of the â€ËÅ"90's.
In 1995, the album 'Wings' did not really unfold commercially but it was recognized as one of Mark's most eclectic and consistent works. MCA brought out' Greatest Hits' in 1996, and 'It's a Little Too Late' took off right away and perched at the #1 spot. 1997 saw 'Thank God for Believers'. In 1999, for 'I Don't Want to Miss a Thing', Mark flirted with a cross over material, the Diane Warren ballad (which worked very well for Aero Smith as well). Critics acclaimed his version of it but interestingly the other singles did not become popular. It was a slightly downhill journey for Mark since then. His 'Lost in the Feeling' of 2000 flopped and saw the exit of Mark from the MCA alliance. He signed with Columbia in 2002 but that effort could not quite restore the old glory.

Bob Chesnutt, a record collector, great fan of country music and also a local singer never hit it big. However, he pledged to ensure that his son saw the limelight that quite eluded from him. That inspiration transformed Bob Chesnutt's son, Mark Chesnutt, into a chart topping country music super star. Mark was born in Beaumont, TX, in 1963. When he was 15, during his sophomore year in school, he quit studies and followed his father (but resumed studies to acquire a diploma later) to the local honky-tonks to give performances that drew local crowds. His expertise on drums and guitars came handy and the crowd recognized his authentic country music.
As the next step in building a career, during the 80's, he accompanied his father to Nashville to do some recordings and broaden his exposure. Initially, he ended up recording for regional labels. It was only a matter of time and opportunity for his talent to hit the right ears. Word got out about his talent and Music Row expressed willingness to take him onboard. They visited Cutters a local club in Beaumont to hear Mark sing as he was their house band. He was signed to MCA Nashville and he cruised in the waters of country music happily ever after!
