Mandy Patinkin
Mandy Patinkin's concert career kicked off with the launch of his eponymous solo album – Mandy Patinkin in 1989. Soon after that he appeared in some concert shows with tickets completely sold out, not only in US but also in Canada and UK. In those concerts, he gave vocal form to the lyrics of some popular songwriters. "Mandy Patinkin in Concert: Dress Casual" was his second album, and was released in 1990 on CBS Records. Apart from his albums there are more contributions from Patinkin to the music world. In 1998 he debuted Mamalsohen, a project very close to his heart. It was a collection of classic, traditional and contemporary Yiddish songs. Mamalsohen was mobile and as a stage production it toured all across the country. Its recording was awarded the "Deutschen Schallplattenpreis", dubbed as the German Grammy.
He embraced the small screen in 1994 and went straight ahead to win the Emmy Award for his performance as Dr. Jeffrey Geiger on CBS' Chicago Hope. Despite the awards and fame from it, Patinkin quit the show partway in the middle of the second season, as he wanted to spend more time with his wife.
2000 saw him back in the Broadway sets and he grabbed a Tony Award for Best Actor (Musical) "The Wild Party". In 2004, he ran a one-man concert in a six-week engagement in the complex Dodger Stages. In September 2005, he appeared in the hit series - Criminal Minds as Jason Gideon who showed up back to work after multiple nervous breakdowns resulting for his partner's death. Criminal Minds is expected to be aired in 2007, immediately after the Super Bowl.
