Maia Sharp is the daughter of noted country songwriter Randy Sharp. A brilliant songwriter, Randy has the credit of having penned the lyrics for the likes of Clay Walker and Patty Loveless. Maia grew up in the musical era of Jackson Browne and Rickie Lee Jones when California's air was saturated with music. At the tender age of 12, she knew how to play piano, saxophone, and guitar. She continued to hone her skills and by the age of 21 she began performing on stage at various venues in L.A. Her performances even at that point in time attracted hordes of fans and she gained considerable popularity. Eventually, she was noticed by Miles Copeland, manager of Ark 21 label. She signed up with the label and came out with her debut album ‘Hardly Glamour' (1997). The album contained the vivacious tracks like ‘Only Way of Knowing' & ‘Solitaire' and the touching numbers ‘Wandering Heart,' ‘The Apology,' & ‘Parting Request.' Maia was flooded with accolades and got rave reviews for the work. The album also got her a nomination for the prestigious Triple-A radio's Artist of the Year and ‘Parting Request' was used as a soundtrack for the movie ‘The Mighty.' After the success of ‘Hardly Glamour,' Maia did some touring sharing the stage with Bruce Cockburn, David Wilcox etc. In 1998, Maia released her follow-up album ‘Tinderbox.'
