Lee Scratch Perry before establishing himself as a musician, was an arranger and engineer for Coxsone's Studio One. Soon he became as one of the well-known producer of the world. The use of African rhythms in his music made him the best musicians of the classic mid-70's, seperating him from the rest of the musicians such a Wailers, Heptones and Max Romeo. The talented artist also came up with some arcane dubbing skills that made hi, spew out music. He is also regarded as the reigning Grand Master of the reggae production.
In the late 70's when the Black Ark studio in Kingston's Washington Gardens closed, Perry planned to shift to Amsterdam and start with his recording. But, unfortunately his plan did not prove to be worthwhile musically as well as financially. Soon, Perry returned back to Jamaica and involved himself in various other projects.
At the end of the year 1981, Perry recording an album for Joe Gibbs which was remarkably successful. Perry was always seen giving instructions to the other musicians and was an extremely demanding person. His goals were clear in his mind and knew exactly what he wanted out of his aspirations.

Lee Scratch Perry toured almost all the cities of U.S in the year 1981, being the frontman of a white reggae band "Terrorists" which was one of the band's established in New York. Apart of all this, Perry also came up with his own albums like "Super Ape" and "Blackboard Jungle Dub".
Perry's best productions released under Chris Blackwell's label Island Records.
His album "Technomajikal"which was released in collaboration with Dieter Meyer of Yello fame, appeared to be annoying. This album was released in Switzerland, in the year 1997.
