Background- Laura Pausini is a famous Italian pop singer, who has left a mark on her fans specially in Italy, Spain and Latin America. She is characterized by her soulful voice, romantic ballads and love songs. She has made records not only in English but also in Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Laura Pausini was born in the year 1974 in Faenza, in Northern Italy, and was raised in the town of Solarolo. She inherited her musical talents from her father, who was a musician and singer. She started singing, when she was only eight years old in local piano bars along with her father. When she was thirteen years old, she did her first recording and released her first album "I Sogni Di Laura", which was produced by her father in the year 1987. She then went on to participate in the prestigious Italian Sanremo Music Festival and won the Festival.

This landed her with a contract with Warner Music Italy and released her first professional album, "Laura Pausini" in the year 1993. The album went on to become a huge success in Italy, as well as in France. She then released her second album, "Laura", in 1994 which was a tremendous hit. She then released the same album in Spanish so as to capture the music market in Spain and Latin America.

In the year 1994, she released her first Spanish album, "Laura Pausini" which was a compilation of the hits from her first two Italian CDs. The album became such a hit that she became a household. The song "Se Fue" was one of the biggest song in 1995 and was played most in the Hot Latin Chart of Billboard.
This continuous success, boosted the confidence of Laura and she started releasing both Italian and Spanish versions of every album, such as "Le Cose Che Vivi" in 1996, "La Mia Risposta" in 1998 and "Tra Te E Il Mare" in 2000. All these albums were released both in Spain and Latin America as Las Cosas Que Vives, Mi Respuesta and Entre Tú Y Mil Mares respectively. She then recorded 3 songs in Portuguese from her album Le Cose Che Vivi, releasing a special version in that language titled Tudo O Que Eu Vivo in 1996.

She then released "La Solitudine" in the year 1995, and released its English version titled "The Loneliness" which was adapted by Tim Rice. This was her first ever version in English. In the year 1999 she rendered a song, titled One More Time for the soundtrack of the Hollywood movie Message In A Bottle (with Kevin Costner and Paul Newman). The song was written by Richard Marx. In 2000, she recorded the theme "The Extra Mile" for the soundtrack of the movie Pokémon 2000: The Power of One.

In the year 2002, she released her first English album, "From the Inside", with Atlantic Records which was produced by Patrick Leonard and John Shanks among others. The first single "Surrender" was a hit and appeared at Billboard #1 in the Hot Dance Club Play Chart. Her second single "If That's Love" was also a #1 in the same chart.

Her first hits compilation came in 2001 both in Spanish and Italian: "The Best Of: E Ritorno Da Te" and "Lo Mejor De: Volveré Junto A Ti". In 2004 she released "Resta In Ascolto". The Spanish version of this album, "Escucha", won her Latin Grammy and a Grammy in 2005. She has received two World Music Awards in 1994 and 2003 for Best Italian Selling Artist. She also became the first Italian female to ever win a Grammy Award.
