Lacuna Coil
Background- Lacuna Coil is one of the famous bands who are breaking grounds with their alternative metal/gothic metal.
Lacuna Coil was earlier known as Sleep of Right and later changed it to Ethereal and are from Milan, Italy. They were highly inspired by gothic imagery, Korn and Meshuggah, Paradise Lost, Tiamat, Septic Flesh, Type O Negative, Imago Mortis, Depeche Mode, and In Flames, amongst others. Generally, they are known for composing mid tempo songs that consisted of guitar lines which is placed along with keyboard work. They also creates melodic sound by combining the dual female/male vocal harmonies.
When they were known by the name of Etheral, they were signed up by Century Media in the year 1997. But later found out that there was another band with the same name Ethereal and so they named their band as Lacuna Coil, which means empty spiral. During the formation of the band, it consisted of co-vocalists Cristina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro with bassist / keyboardist Marco Coti Zelati. In the year 1998, they released a self titled EP and went on a tour. During this tour they were accompanied by guitarist Cristiano Migliore and drummer Cristiano Mozzati. After they completed their second European tour, they recorded their first full-length album, " In a Reverie". During the recording of the album, they also added a second guitarist Marco Biazzi. After that they again embarked upon another European tour.

In the 2002, when they released their next album "Comalies", it was a huge hit and was also critically acclaim and also garnered rave reviews. The first single from this album, 'Heaven's a Lie', received radio and media attention and it pulled the band into the mainstream. The second single, 'Swamped', was another hit, and was even used as a music in the video game "Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines". For both the songs music videos were also filmed and was broadcast on MTV2's Headbanger's Ball, that increased the reach of the band.
By 2004, "Comalies" had become the best-selling CD in the history of Century Media. In the year 2006, they released, their next album Karmacode. The first single of the album is "Our Truth", which featured on the soundtrack of the movie Underworld: Evolution. The video also frequently appeared in MTV.
During their 2005 European Tour, in some selected concerts, the band performed two of their new songs, "A2" and "Antonio". "Our Truth" is one of these songs, which is sometimes referred as "Antonio", while the song "A2" has been renamed as "Fragile", and is also the opening track in the album "Karmacode". In the early part of 2006, Lacuna Coil went on tour with Rob Zombie throughout North America , that corresponds to the release of their new album "Karmacode". They have also played in the main stage in Ozzfest and also played at the Download Festival in the year 2006, which was a three-day festival in England's Donington Park. The headliner of the festival were Metallica, Tool, and Guns N' Roses. They also played in the UK at Sheffield Corporation on 17th October, in 2006 itself. Currently Lacuna Coil are busy touring with the In Flames for a US Tour.
The former members of Lacuna Coil are Raffaele Zagaria – Guitar, Claudio Leo – Guitar, Leonardo Forti – Drums and Alice Chiarelli - Touring Keyboardist. Lacuna Coil has undergone changes in their line-up such as Cristina Scabbia - Female vocals (Contralto), Cristina Scabbia singing for Lacuna Coil in Oxford Enlarge, Cristina Scabbia singing for Lacuna Coil in Oxford, Andrea Ferro - Male vocals (Tenor), Cristiano "Pizza" Migliore – Guitar, Marco "Maus" Biazzi – Guitar, Marco Coti Zelati - Bass and keyboards and Cristiano "Criz" Mozzati – Drums.
