In this hit album, A.B. wrote the key #1 release with "Azucar", "Fuiste Mala", "Te Quiero A Ti", and also the big hit with a cross-over Top 40 record, "U Don't Love Me". It gave the Kumbia Kings a hit and the song also remained in the Billboard for, surprisingly, ninety-five weeks. It is regarded as one of the most toughest but at the same time an impressive achievement for a debut album. This album not only made them famous but it also bought almost eighteen awards, including three Billboard Awards, ten Tejano Music Awards, two Furia Musical Awards, and a Ritmo Latino and Premio Lo Nuestro Award, for the The Kumbia Kings. The album also featured in the #1 spot and also appeared in the Best Sellers' Billboard 2000 List. But that was not enough, in the year 2000, the Recording Industry Association of America recognized this super-hit debut album, "Amor, Familia, Y Respeto", with gold and platinum sales certifications.

The brillianr A.B. Quintanilla III and his band Kumbia Kings keeps on performing throughout the United States and Mexico doing shows and attracting new fans. In the year 2000, the Kumbia Kings put up a show, Astrodome, at the 68th Annual Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo where they were the headliner and the show was sold-out to the 70,000 capacity. Well that was enough in the year, 2001 they were also the headliner in two shows, which was one of the hit shows at the San Antonio Livestock Show & Rodeo. The vocals were delivered by DJ Kane, Cisko, and Baby Drew. On stage, the Kumbia Kings brought in some brilliant eight key personalities: Cruz "CK" Martinez, Jason "DJ Kane" Cano, Alex Ramirez, Roy "Slim" Ramirez, Frank "Cisko" Bautista, Andrew "Drew" Maes, Jesse "OJ" Martinez, and Frank Arrandar.

Their debut album, "Amor, Familia, y Respeto", won them a nomination at the Grammy Award. In the year 2001 the album "Sshhh!", was released, which climbed to number 2 in its first week, and remained there for almost 2 years. In the year 2003, they also earned a nomination for the "Latin Artist of the Year" at the American Music Awards, and also a number of other musical awards and achievements. "4" was released in the same year which was a fusion of different genres of music. In the year 2004, they released their "Fuego" which sold for over 500,000 copies.
