A very well known thrash metal from Essen, Germany is Kreator. The band has released various albums. Kreator was formed in 1982 and have since then seen some changes in its line up. The group now has four members who are Jürgen 'Ventor' Reil on drums, Sami Yli-Siriniö on guitar, bass by Christian 'Speesy' Giesler and Miland 'Mille' Petrozza on guitar and vocals. Kreator in 1982 was formed under the name Tyrant. The band was formed by members Jurgen 'Ventor' Reil on drums, bass by Rob Fioretti and vocals and guitar by Mille Petrozza. Tyrant was again changed to a new name Tormentor. In 1985 the band was signed by Noise Records and released their first album in 1985. The album ' Endless Pain ' had fourteen songs Storm of the Beast, BoneBreaker, Endless Pain, Dying Victims, Tormentor, Total Death, Tormentor, Flag of Hate, Cry War , Son of Evil, Armies of Hell , Cry War, Living in Fear and Bonebreaker.

The second album of the band was ' Pleasure to Kill ' released the following year and was a thrash classic. The album shows the technical ability and talent of Kreator and at that time became a promising upcoming metal band of Europe. The hit tracks in the album were Pleasure to Kill, Flag of Hate, Awakening of the Gods, Choir of the Damned, Command of the Blade, Death is your Saviour,
Carrion, Take their Lives, Riot of Violence, Ripping Corpse, Under the Guillotine and The Pestilence.

The best album of Kreator came in 1987 titled ' Terrible Certainty'. There was new guitarist in the band at this time Jörg Trzebiatowski. The album had more complex arrangements and different tempos. ' Terrible Certainty' was released with eight tracks Behind the Mirror, Terrible Certainty, One of Use, Blind Faith, Storming with Menace, No Escape, As the World Burns and Toxic Trace. With this album the popularity of Kreator continued to rise.

In 1988 Epic Records signed the band and the first album of the band with the record label was a very bis hit. The album was ' Extreme Aggression ' consisting of songs like Stream of Consciousness, Fatal Energy, Extreme Aggression, Don't Trust, No Reason to Exist, Some Pain Will Last, Love Us or Hate Us, Bringer of Torture and Betrayer. After the release the group with Suicidal Tendencies toured to North America gaining more and more popularity outside Europe.
Two year later Kreator released another successful album titled ' Coma of Souls '. The album contained many successful numbers Coma of Souls, Agents of Brutality, Hidden Dictator, People of the Lie, Mental Slavery, World Beyond, When the Sun Burns Red, Twisted Urges, Terror Zone and Material World Paranoia. This album also featured another new guitarist Frank Gosdzik. At this time Kreator also started to experiment with industrial metal and death metal.

Their experiment resulted in a 1992 album titled 'Renewal' having nine songs Brainseed, Depression Unrest, Winter Martyrium, Realitätskontrolle, Europe after the Rain, Renewal, Zero to None, Reflection and Karmic Wheel.
The experiments continued with albums like 'Outcast' and 'Endorama'. But in their 2001 album 'Violent Revolution' Kreator went back to their old thrash sound which also earned them praise by critics and people. Kreator in the present times have been able to build a large fan following.
