Kingston Trio Tickets for Sale
After more than 50 years in the music industry, most bands would decide it's time to take a break and relax. Not the Kingston Trio. The legendary folk-rock threesome has already lined up tour dates for 2014 that will see them performing all over the country.
The group debuted in 1957 to almost instant popularity. Their nontraditional folk/rock hybrid was inventive at a time when rock music was still young and the world took notice of the three young men. Over the next five decades they would remain one of the most influential names in music, and their first big hit, Tom Dooley, would go on to be added to the National Library of Congress National Registry of Historically Significant Recordings.
The line up has changed over the years. Although none of the original members still perform, the current members - George Grove, Bill Zorn and Rick Dougherty - are directed by Bob Shane, one of the group's founders. Shane believes the legacy of the group is so strong it will survive long after he's gone, and the fact that they're still packing houses after 50 years backs that up.
The Kingston Trio's set is dynamic and inventive, with a number of old folk standards and Kingston Trio originals (culled from 17 consecutive top 40 albums) the band can draw from to keep every concert fresh and exciting. The band is also known for a long list of music royalty that likes to show up at their gigs unannounced and jam with them for the night.
Music lovers of all ages can find something to enjoy at a Kingston Trio concert, and these musical Methuselahs have been doing it for so long they have learned to win over even the most jaded of crowds. Their 2014 tour will take them to all corners of the US, so there really isn't any excuse to not catch them where you can.
