Shoukichi Kina is an Okinawan singer and guitarist. In the year 1968 he formed a band named as Champloose. Kina is the first person who mixed Asian music with rock. He was very successful in his experiment and was critically acclaimed for this. Kina has always tried to bring both the eastern and western world together. His music always has been dedicated to sole motive and that is to bring people from different countries close to each other.
His Album named Bloodlines was released in the year 1980. Kina recorded this album with Ry Cooder. The Album was recorded with mandolin, acoustic guitar and drums music. He was famous for his unique style of music and his very well written songs. Everyone who loved him said he was gifted with great music sense. In the year 1982 the celebration for the album Bloodlines was released this was a big hit and it put him in the tom 10 list.

The song ‘Haisai Hojisan' which meant hello uncle, which was also his one of the most famous song was covered by international group John French and Henry Kaiser. Later Kina also released an album in 1993 named as ‘Rockstar' this was the album which was his greatest hit and later also won the ‘Mtv Best Album Award'. He then changed his style and completely prepared an album of hard metal music. This album was a failure. This album threw him into great financial loss. He was not able to get rid of his financial crisis for a long time till the later part of the year 1996. in this year he gave a live stage show which again changed his fortune and he bounced back into the Hall of Fame.
According to David Bryne who helped Kina in releasing a 15 tune Album Kina's shows were more like rallys than ordinary stage shows. His shows were Full of people an ocean of people got collected whenevr his show was announced. This is the reason he attracted many sponsors but he never signed any agreement with any Records Company. He always released his own music and he was his own Sponsor.
