Kesha is the latest American pop star to light up the Billboard charts with infectious dance tracks. Her rise comes after hobnobbing with the pop world's royalty and entrusting her future to the music business despite a promising academic career. Kesha tickets for her concerts throughout her tour schedule could incite riots thanks to her newfound popularity.
Her career can be attributed to much more than just a haphazard listen to her demo by Prince, before she broke into a party at his estate and left her demo she grew up in poverty in the San Fernando Valley. Kesha's mother was an aspiring singer and songwriter herself, and that desire and drive was apparently passed on. The family had a turn for the better when Kesha's mother found some hope with a publishing deal in Nashville in 1992, and this had an indelible effect on the precocious five year old.
Years later Kesha and the rest of the Sebert clan appeared on the Simple Life in 2005. Even then she was working on her music and handing out demos to anyone she thought could help her music career. Still, she balanced the desire to be a pop star with a strong interest in school. She even, reportedly, scored a 1500 on her SATs. Nonetheless, Kesha moved to Los Angeles at the age of 17 at the behest of producers Dr. Luke and Man Martin.
The move would eventually become a meritable risk, but first she had to compete with the army of other potential pop princesses in Los Angeles. She began appearing in music videos and singing background vocals, notably for Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and Flo Rida. She even penned a few songs and developed a dear friendship with fellow breakout star Katy Perry.
Kesha signed with RCA Records in 2009 at the age of 22 and began work on her debut album. Singles "Tik Tok," "Blah, Blah, Blah," and "Your Love is My Drug" have skyrocketed on the charts and brought her very being to the consciousness of a very easily distracted audience. "Tik Tok" and "Blah Blah Blah" have actually gone platinum in several countries and her album, Animal, has topped the pop charts since being released on January 1, 2010.
Kesha has a new EP, Cannibal, and is set to tour in 2011. Get your Kesha tickets from OnlineSeats to see this new artist as she continues to build a name for herself.
