Keith Lockhart was born in New York, United States of America in November of the year 1959. He has been with number of other orchestras before becoming the musical director of Boston Pops. He has been with the Cincinnati Symphony as the associate conductor and Cincinnati Pops orchestras of Cincinnati, Ohio. He attended the Furman University while gaining his first conducting experience at the Brevard Music Center.
For the Boston Pops Keith became the Music Director in 1995 succeeding John William. For over the decade now Keith has been with Boston Pops during which he at the Symphony Hall and all over the world has already conducted 900 concerts. Together the two have been to twelve tours of the country including on the Esplanade of Boston there have been twelve Fourth-Of-July concerts. They have given performances at Carnegie Hall and have toured four times to Japan and Korea. Under Keith Lockhart, Boston Pops have released number of albums namely The Celtic Album, Runnin' Wild: The Boston Pops Play Glenn Miller, The Latin Album, American Visions, Encore!, A Splash of Pops, and Holiday Pops. The latest album have been My Favorite Things-A Richard Rodgers Celebration.

Boston Pops Orchestra has been among one of the oldest Orchestra in the history of United States of America. It was founded in 1885. It was a subsection of Boston Symphony Orchestra which was founded by Henry Lee Higginson in the year of 1881. The reason behind the formation of Boston Pops Orchestra was to give people lighter kind of music. The first concert was presented in 1885 and was named Promenade Concerts. For fifteen years till 1900 the shows of the Orchestra were marked by a combination of tunes of hit musical theater and light classical music and sometimes a novelty number. In 1930 the first official conductor of Boston Pops Orchestra was Arthur Fiedler who served the Orchestra as Pops Conductor for fifty years. Under him Orchestra became known all over the world.
