Artist Biography - Katt Williams
Katt Williams was born in Cincinnati Ohio on September 2, 1973. Katt knew from a young age that he had the gift to make people laugh and that he wanted to be a comedian. Williams was a very smart kid and in fact received a full scholarship to The National Science Academy in Dayton Ohio, however when he found that out he had gotten the scholarship he purposely performed poorly on his tests in order to get disqualified from the program. He wanted to express his creative comedic side just like some of his comedy idols, like Bill Cosby, Richard Pryor, Whoopi Goldberg and Eddie Murphy. At a young age, before he was legal, he snuck into an improv nightclub and did his first onstage improv routine. The audience loved him and that was the beginning for him. Katt loved the improv and decided he wanted to be the "greatest comic of his time". By 1999 he was a comic force to be reckoned with. He was already a staple in many of the comedy clubs when he also started working on the BET network. He appeared in some of their shows like Rip the Runway, Black Carpet and The BET Awards shows. The hip hop community embraced him and he got great support form Snoop Dog and Master P. Katt even went on to appear in music videos with Lil' Kim, Outkast and Ludacris. Williams is best known for working on Nick Cannon's improv show that aired on MTV called "Wild n' Out". This led to many TV appearances for him as well. He was on "NYPD Blue", "The Tracy Morgan Show", "My Wife and Kids", and the UPN's "Girlfriends and "Cuts". Williams even played an animated character on the adult cartoon ‘The Boondocks." He then moved to the big screen and was in the movie "Friday After Next" where he became a big hit with his character "Money Mike". He also released his first album called "It's Pimpin' Pimpin". HBO then aired a special about Katt called "Katt Williams: Pimp Chronicles PT 1" and this 60 minute comedy special became the highest rated special on HBO for 2005 and 2006. With the huge success on HBO, PT2 was released as a big screen movie in 2007.
