For several years Kamelot have been fascinating their audiences with their melodic power metal. Roy Khan with his charismatic and sensual voice, Casey Grillo as the drummer, Glenn Barry as the bassist along with Thomas Younbloods's powerful as well as intricate guitar work makes the audience spell-bound. Kamelot was formed in the year 1994. Right after the formation, they signed up a deal with Noise Records. They released their first album Eternity in the year 1995. It was accredited as the most promising first offerings ever. They released their next album Dominion in 1997, that sounded even more diverse and varied. Later, in the same year, two of the band's members left the band. They were drummer and founder Richard Warner and lead vocalist Mark Vanderbilt and they were replaced by Casey Grillo and Roy Khan. Roy Khan was from the band Conception, he left it to join Kamelot as it seemed to him more promising. With the joining of two new members, Kamelot released their third studio album Sierge Perilous in the year 1998. After the release of this album, the new line-up took up an extensive tour throughout Europe. They returned after twelve months later in the Gate Studio in Wolfsburg to produce the fourth studio effort The Fourth Legacy.

In the year 2000, they brought the New Allegiance Tour which they carried out throughout in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, The Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Greece and Spain and during this tour, the Kamelot carried out their recordings for their first live album The Expedition. After few months they released their next album Kama. The album, till date, has been one of the greatest critical success. In 2003, they released their sixth album Epica. In 2005, they released their next album The Black Halo. One of the interesting feature about Epica and The Black Halo is that they are based on Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's version of the legend of Faust, a story of the man who sells his soul to the devil. Black Halo deals with love and wonder, life and death through the eyes of Kamelot.The band again undertook tour, to support their new album The Black Halo, through out Europe and Japan. While they were carrying our their first leg in Black Halo World Tour 2005, they played a head liner show with Epica and Kotipelto. In Japan the support of the band was Silent Force. Apart from the tours they were also invited to play in the Festival in Germany and the Graspop Metal Metting in Belgium, where they played on the Bang Your Head!!!
In the year 2005, they shot their their first ever music videos for the songs The Haunting (Somewhere in Time) and March of Mephisto from the album The Black Halo and both these videos were shot by the most acclaimed director Patric Ullaeus. In the same year, Oliver Palotai joined Kamelot as the fifth official band member and plays both the keyboards and the guitars(additional). Kamelot visited North and South America (USA, Canada and Brazil) as well as Europe (The Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden and Norway), again, on the second leg of the "Black Halo World Tour". In the year 2006, the band released Cold Winter's Night, under SPV Records which was shot by Patric Ullaeus at Rockefeller Music Hall in Oslo, Norway.
The band had some guest musicians who played with them-Shagrath, Johansson, Simone Simons, vocalist with Dutch act Epica, Mari, and the Kamelot choir consisting of Herbie Langhans (7 th Avenue), Amanda Somerville-Scharf, Miro, Gerit Göbel, Thomas Rettke (Heaven's Gate) and Elisabeth Kjaernes What makes this band stand out in the crowd is their emphasis on their dynamic guitar sound as well as their consice and carefully written songs.
