Kaiser Chiefs was formed in the year 1997 under a different name Parvaare. They are an English indie rock band from Leeds,who has been creating an impact in the British music scenario. In the year 2003, the group renamed themselves as Kaiser Chiefs. The current lineup of Kaiser Chiefs are Ricky Wilson as the lead vocals, tambourine, cow bell, Andrew 'Whitey' White as the guitarist, Simon Rix as the bass guitar, Nick Hodgson as the drummer as well as for the backing vocals and Nick 'Peanut' Baines as the keyboardist. Since the members of the band are die-hard fans of the English football team Leeds United, and so named themselves after the South African Kaizer Chiefs Football Club.

They released their first single, "Oh My God" in the year 2004 and was released on Drowned In Sound Records. The single was such a hit that it sold out within three days of its release. It appeared at #66 on the UK Singles Charts. But, it was the release of the single "I Predict a Riot" which ultimately brought them widespread fame. The single was not only critically acclaimed but was successful financially too. The single reached #22 in November and was also their first for B-Unique. In the year 2005, the Kaiser Chiefs opened an act at the NME Awards show and also won the Philip Hall Radar Award. Next came, "Oh My God" which tilted to more professional side. It peaked at #6, and, till date, became their highest-charting single till date. In the year 2005, in the month of May, they released their debut album "Employment" that appeared at the charts at #3. It became one of the most favorite album of the season. Three more single were released from the album, "Everyday I Love You Less and Less", a re-issue of "I Predict a Riot", and "Modern Way" in the same year, and all of them appeared at the top 20. It was followed by a DVD entitled "Enjoyment", that was released in the same year. The DVD consists of all the promo videos, live performances and more.

Their first big festival show was at the Reading and Leeds Festival in the year 2004 . In 2005, they performed at the Pinkpop Festival in Landgraaf, Holland. They also opened an act at the Philadelphia Live 8 concert in the same year, in July and performed "I Predict a Riot", "Everyday I Love You Less and Less" and "Oh My God". They were the headliner at the May Ball at Queens' College, Cambridge and also appeared at the Glastonbury Festival. They then appeared at the V Festival, which was a rocking one, though Ricky Wilson had his leg in plaster.

Recently they have embarked on UK Tour, that is being supported by Maxïmo Park and The Cribs. Their first US tour, which they did along with The Cribs, was in the year 2005,which was followed by Foozer tour. They also opened for Foo Fighters during their Australian tour in December 2005. This also played to Jools Holland and his audience in the same year. In the year 2006, they also performed at the Reading and Leeds Festival, wherein they played Time Honoured Tradition, Na Na Na Na Naa, Oh My God, Everyday I Love You Less and Less and I Predict a Riot. They have also performed at the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam, Holland, their biggest concert ever. Other festivals where they performed are Pinkpop, Rock Am Ring and Rock Werchter. Currently, they are touring France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Spain, Denmark and Greece.
