John Lennon Tribute
Background- John Lennon has been one of the greatest figures in the postwar popular music. He was a famous singer, songwriter, guitarist, record producer, author, actor, filmmaker, artist and political spokesman. He was one of the most talented songwriter and no one has been able to parallel his contribution, till date. His music is as timeless and is popular. All of his songs have bought a revolution in the music and culture, of the present times. Lennon and his band mates George Harrison, Ringo Starr, and Paul McCartney had created an extraordinary influence on rock and roll, throughout the 60's. He has written many memorable classics, which has still retained its power till today.
Apart from music, he also took active part in peace efforts too. His greatest achievement was his bringing the Beatles to the pinnacle of success. His message of love and peace, which he transported through his music has influenced the listeners across the globe. In 1980, when he was shot down, the whole world was filled with grief and sorrow.
As a tribute to these great musician, Hollywood Records has released "The John Lennon Tribute Album: Working Class Hero." All the record company, artists and the producers are donating half of their royalties and net profits. These money will be collected and a fund will be established under the administration of the Humane League of the United States. The funds will be used for productive purpose, such as conducting programs to reduce the suffering of the animals, due to overpopulation.

The album John Lennon Tribute is about one of the most famous songwriter as well as a great human being, his philosophies and beliefs. Nevertheless, the album is also about hope. The executive producer of the album is Lindy Goetz. The album consists of a total of 15 famous interpretations of Lennon's music. These interpretations has been performed by many popular bands, of present times such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers who has performed the song "I Found Out," Mad Season who has contributed "I Don't Wanna be a Soldier," Candlebox has performed their own version of "Steel and Glass" while Blues Traveler has performed "Imagine."
Other major contributors in the album includes Screaming Trees who has performed the song "Working Class Hero," The Minus 5 has contributed "Power to the People," Flaming Lips have carried out "Nobody Told Me," The Magnificent Bastards, a band that consists of Scott Weiland on "How Do We Sleep?" and it has been produced by Chris Goss and Super 8's has contributed "Well, Well, Well." Cheap Trick" has performed the song "Cold Turkey; Collective Soul has contributed "Jealous Guy," Sponge has worked on "Isolation," Toad The Wet Sprocket has done "Instant Karma," Mary Chapin Carpenter has performed "Grow Old With Me" and George Clinton has performed on the song "Mind Games."
The liner notes has been contributed by the well-known author David Sheff. Sheff has also conducted interviews with Lennon for an issue in Playboy magazine in the year 1980.
