Joe Nichols was born on 26th November in the year 1976, in Rogers, Arkansas. Music was already there in Nichols blood, as both his father, who was a trucker, and his grandfather were an amateur country musicians. As a result from a very early age, Nichols started playing bass as well as singing. It is generally believed, that he used to entertain people on the streets with his songs and with his bass, for tips at a place called "Rippy's" in Nashville. When he was nineteen years old, he signed a record deal with Intersound Records, but as luck would have it, and released his self-titled debut in 1996. The single "Six of One, Half a Dozen (Of the Other)" was a hit, but later the label folded due to unavoidable circumstances. After some time in the musical wilderness, Nichols met Brent Rowan who was a studio guitarist. They struck up friendship together, and after two years he signed up with Universal.. With the help of Rowan, Nichols produced his first album "Man With a Memory". It was his first project with the Universal South imprint, that was released in the year 2002. The album was superhit and it went to number three on the country charts, also crossing over to the pop Top 30. It also earned him three nominations for the Grammy awards, for the album's first hit single, "The Impossible."
