Jimmy Buffett was born December 25, 1946 in Pascogoula, Mississippi; however, he was raised in Mobile Alabama. Believe it or not, Jimmy Buffett is a distant cousin of the 2nd world's richest man, Warren Buffett. Fast forward past the family tree and we arrive in Jimmy's life as he attended college at the University of Southern Mississippi and majored in history. There he proved to be a vision of his future self, where the man would revel in music and partying. Buffett initially started off in the music industry as a correspondent for Nashville billboard. Through the help of the job, he achieved several contacts in the industry and was able to release his debut album for Barnaby records. The album was not a hit by any means and basically went unnoticed by major critics or a fan base. When the 1970s rolled around, Buffett moved to Florida, specifically Key West, which would prove to be a very smart move. This is the time when Jimmy became a true party animal with a laid back appeal. Soon after his move, he released another album, White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean in 1973, with the major label ABC-Dunhill. Buffett soon had a strong and loyal group of fans who would flock to each and every concert as did Grateful Dead fans and now Phish fans. Jimmy gained thousands of new fans, 'parrotheads,' after the release of his 1977 album, 'Changes in Attitudes'. This album featured the smash hit 'Margaritaville', which has become a staple for every relaxed day of drinking. During the 1980s, Jimmy Buffett continued to record and perform, and today he endorses a myriad of products including, but not limited to, food and drink mixes, clothing, and books. Today Jimmy Buffett and his Coral Reefer band has one of the most loyal followings of any artist in existence today and Jimmy Buffett tickets sell incredibly well every summer.
