Young soon recorded his own album using his own guitar accompaniment in just four hours. He also met three other musicians namely Jerry Corbitt, Lowell Levinger and Joe Bauer. Together the group called themselves The Youngbloods and released one of their best-known hits Get Together. Since then, the song has become an anthem for peace around the world and has been covered by numerous artists. It has also appeared in a number of movies like Forrest Gump.
Young also began working on some solo material and in 1972 the group disbanded and Young began to follow his solo career which was taking off to a flying start. He continued to record a number of highly acclaimed albums, perhaps the most popular being Songs for Juli. Despite a devastating fire that wiped out almost all of Young's possessions and songs, Young is now back on his feet and continues to make music to this day.
