There was an investigation in the 1990s into organized crime's influence in the liquor business, which made Blavat's association with the Bruno-Scarfo crime family public, but the former Scarfo crime family member, Thomas A. DelGiorno testified that Blavat had regularly paid a "street tax" and had purchased a yacht for crime boss Nicodemo Scarfo for $40,000.

They secured employment for Jerry Blavat, in exchange, and kept union organizers out of the Blavat's Memories Disco disco in Margate. Jerry was inducted into the Philadelphia Music Alliance's Hall of Fame in 1993 and five years later was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
