Jay Z Tickets

Jay-Z spent the end of last year on the Watch the Throne tour with Kanye West, with whom he released The Throne, his second collaborative album. The album has inspired millions of YouTube and Vevo views of both "Otis"" and "Nigg*s in Paris". A well-received album from critics and fans, Watch the Throne will be followed to a second collaboration to be recorded and released in 2013. However, in 2012, Jay-Z tickets are going to be released for the opening of the Barclays Center, the new home of his New Jersey Nets.

The rapper will be performing on September 28th, as scheduled, but also for five additional shows, on October 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6, 2012. This is not quite a tour and much more like a residence. The Jay Z shows will surely be dominating the New York and Atlantic media for a month leading up to the event. This is truly an event that may include his many high-profile friends, including his wife Beyonce and new music industry bestie Kanye.

Tickets Jay-Z

Jay-Z History

Jay Z, born Shawn Carter on December 4, 1969, is perhaps the most recognized and respected name in his respective genres, hip hop and rap. A man who has become both a platinum-selling artist and highly successful businessman who owns part of a professional sports franchise, Jay Z has risen far above the game to the point where any music he releases and any Jay Z tickets that go on sale are immediately dominate the radio and sell out arenas around the globe. He certainly has come a long way from the kid who in poverty in Brooklyn. Carter was raised in Marcy House housing project and abandoned by his father at an early age.

He would spend his formative years at Eli Whitney High School, George Westinghouse Career and Technical High School, and Trenton Central High School. Those years were spent, reportedly, selling crack cocaine. Incredibly, though he never graduated, he became part of an incredible class of rappers at George Westinghouse. He, the Notorious B.I.G., and Busta Rhymes attended the school at the same time.

Obviously, Shawn had little interest in school, but he was obsessed with music and the idea of making money. He adopted local rapper Jaz-O as a mentor. His stage name, Jay Z, is part homage to this music figure. The name also pays tribute to his roots, taking inspiration from the J/Z subway lines. The young Jay Z participated in rap battles with performers like LL Cool J and went on stage as Big Daddy Kane's hype man in the early ‘90s. He was an incredibly active performer, all in the hopes of signing some sort of a record deal. No record deal came though, so he, Damon Dash, and Kareem Biggs founded Roc-A-Fella Records. The then-independent label brokered a deal with Priority to distribute their albums.

Through this new venture, Jay Z released his debut album Reasonable Doubt in 1996. The album earned rave reviews from critics and peaked at number 23 on the Billboard 200. The album also reached platinum certification, beginning the rapper's unbroken platinum streak. The album introduced the world to an angry young man who demonstrated a mastering of flow and the ability to deliver lines quickly or slowly with the beat with ease. His initial style was far faster than his more recent material.

This remained true on his next album My Lifetime, Vol. 1 again went platinum, but this album garnered even more mainstream success, peaking at number three on the U.S. charts. Jay Z has released 14 studio albums, three of which have been collaborations. Each of the albums following My Lifetime, Vol. 1 have gone number one, with the exception of The Best of Both World. His biggest seller, Vol. 2…Hard Knock Life (1998), has been certified platinum five times over. This album made Jay Z a household name and released a song that would become his anthem, Hard Knock Life.

Over the course of his career, Jay Z has been in trouble with law and had a few personal beefs end up on the stage in rhyme. For instance, in 1999 authorities accused Jay Z of stabbing a man in a club. The artist fought the charges initially, but plea bargained a lesser charge, resulting in three years' probation. These music-inspiring beefs have helped launched the careers of several new artists who have become incredible successes and household names on their own.

A free man coming into the 21st century, he remained a target for fellow rappers trying to make a name for themselves. He and a rapper named Prodigy took a battle to the stage, exchanging insults and sometimes posting embarrassing pictures (seriously). Jay Z outright won the battle, but more feuds would follow, including one with Nas. Eventually, Jay Z rose above the game and the feuds and began harnessing his business chops. He opened the 40/40 Club, became a minority owner of the New Jersey Nets, and founded a clothing company. Rocawear.

He still had lyrical enemies, but his status has overshadowed any challenge from the pack of hungry rappers. His relationship with Beyonce has also overshadowed Jay Z news. The two kept quiet about their relationship for years, finally announcing their marriage on April 4, 2008. A few years later Jay Z and Beyonce have introduced a new member to the hip hop genre, Blue.

Jay Z remains one of the most respected rappers and hip hop producers today. He regularly helps creates stars in the studio and through his executive role with Roc-A-Fella Records, but still consistently releases new material. He puts on one of the best concerts for his genre, meaning the hype for his shows and tours thanks to his name and the quality of his work regularly sells out Jay Z tickets. OnlineSeats will have Jay Z tickets to every event, so look for great seats for cheap and see this once-in-a-lifetime performer in person.
