Ready for some new punk rock? Jimmy Lee Lindsey a.k.a. Jay Reatard started his career at a young age of 15 in Memphis, Tennessee, keeping to his indie rock mentality as a punk rocker. Going through many bands, he has become a single hit as one of the best garage punk rockers of our time.
When he was 15, he sent in his music to Goner Records. Eric Friedl recognized his musical ability and introduced him to his band, Obilvian. Given tickets to the concert, the music style of Oblivian later inspired Jay to utilize their style and continues to play the lo-fi, sloppy style of garage punk.
His first act came with his solo band called the Reatards (where he got his now solo name). He later became accompanied by two members, but later broke up by the age of 18. He then spent most of his time working with The Lost Sounds, a heavy punk rock band that lasted until 05. After a few side projects of writing for a few friend's bands, he entered into a solo career with Matador Records.
In 06, the release of Blood Visions started his career as a solo artist. He starting using Jay Reatard with this release and toured in 06 and 07. In 08, he signed with Matador Records for multiple albums and sold many Jay Reatard tickets. He later would appear in many world events and music festivals.
His new album, Watch Me Fall, was released recently and will specially tribute, as well as his tour profits, to helping Chris Knox recover from a stroke. The two were to work together for this season's tour. The Jay Reatard tickets for the Shattered Records Tour are now being sold quickly.
