 Jason Mraz, a singer/songwriter who emerged from the city of Mechanicsville, VA, derives his inspiration from the popular singer Dave Matthews Band and several other local musicians. In the beginning Mraz had a deep interest in musical theater, which proved to be his gateway to an interest in music. While he was still in his teen years, Jason moved to New York City and attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy . However, he dropped out and began focusing on guitar playing and improved his songwriting. He even received a full-fledged training to make his vocals crystal clear. After a long wait, the talented artist released his debut album Waiting For My Rocket To Come in 2002. This album was released through Elektra Records and the singer moved back to Virginia to record the album. Jason Mraz would move on from his brief return to Virginia, deciding to go West and settle in San Diego, CA. Mraz began instilling himself in the local music scene. He played with other local bands and even paired with drummer Toca Rivera as a showcase performer. His debut album had all the elements of country and rock with some traits of jazz, folk and hip-hop. Other follow up albums which were released during this time were2005's Mr. A-Z and 2008's We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things, which included the multi-platinum single "I'm Yours."
