Jason Aldean was born in the year 1977. When he was only three years old, his parents separated. Though he was raised by his mother in Macon, Ga., but he used to spent his summers with his father in Homestead, Fla. It was during this visit, that his father used to take him to concerts where Kenny Rogers, the Gatlin Brothers and Alabama used to perform. Besides visiting the concerts, Aldean's father also used to write guitar chords on notebook paper so that he could teach his son how to play the guitar. As time passed, Aldean started playing songs by listening songs from the radio. His favorites songs were George Strait's "The Cowboy Rides Away," Hank Williams Jr.'s "The Blues Man" and Alabama's "My Home's in Alabama."
Once he came to know about the country music awards show on TV, inspired by the show, Aldean, at that time was only 14 years old, decided to perform at the show. He was helped by his mother, who arranged for him to sing two songs at the VFW Hall in Macon. His performance was widely praised and so he began to perform at other area talent contests as well as local fairs. When he was 15 years old, he joined a house band at the Macon nightspot Nashville South. After one year, he earned enough money so as to buy his first vehicle which was a 1985 Toyota pickup with a rusted-out tailgate. After completion of his high school graduation, he made decision that he will make career in music.

As Jason says in his official website, "When I got started, I had no idea how to get into the music business at all. My dad said, 'The way people do it is you just play clubs and if you're good enough, somebody will find you.' So that is all I knew, too. I didn't know anything different." Along with his one of the band members Justin Weaver, Jason began writing songs. He then recorded an album, in the year 1996, that contained eight-songs in Nashville and then sold them at his shows. In the year 1998, he was invited to perform at the Atlanta nightclub The Buckboard, where he performed his original songs. After the show Michael Knox, then of the Warner-Chappell publishing company approached him and said that he was interested in publishing his songs. After that Jason signed up to write songs for the company. He remained with the label for sometime and then left it.
It was in the year 2004, when he was performing at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville, that Lawrence Mathis approached him and helped him secure a record deal with independent label Broken Bow Records and in the year 2005, Aldean released his self-titled debut album for the label, which included hits included such as "Hicktown," "Why" and "Amarillo Sky." The tracks of the album are Hicktown, Amarillo Sky, Why, Even If I Wanted To, Lonesome USA, Asphalt Cowboy, I'm Just a Man, You're the Love I Wanna Be In, Good to Go, I Believe in Ghosts and She Loved Me. After the success of the album, Jason says, "Now I'm at the most exciting time of my life. Recording my first album has been such a thrill. For a change, I'm with a label that believes in what I am doing. I have waited a long time to make a record like this, and all I can say is this album is real, it's true and it's me. I hope you like it."
